Welcome to San Diego Randonneurs, a cycling group dedicated to randonneuring, which is a form of long-distance, self-supported, endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginnings of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

To keep current on what’s happening with San Diego Randonneurs, it’s important to join the Google Group, sdrando. There are occasional group discussions, but also notices sent out about upcoming events. Joining the group is the best way to ensure that you get the latest information, and are able to ask other members questions about anything related to long-distance riding in San Diego.

Important for 2016:
To make it easier for riders to get their brevet cards returned to them at the end of the year, we’re introducing a new system. At the start of each ride, there will be a box of blank envelopes, large enough to accomodate a few brevet cards. If you want to have your card(s) mailed to you at the end of the year, take an envelope and write your mailing address on it, and hand it back to the ride organizer. Any brevet cards that you accumulate during the year will be sent back to you in the envelope that you address. If you don’t want your card(s) returned to you, there’s no need to write your address on an envelope. There’s no need to write your address on more than one envelope. At the end of the year if SDR has cards for a rider and there is no envelope for the rider, the cards will be recycled. SDR will pay for envelopes and postage. All you have to do is to put your address on an envelope if you want your cards returned to you at the end of the year. SDR will take care of the rest.
